OS Review: CachyOS

If you think standard Arch Linux is “fast” but still feel like your CPU is slouching on the job, CachyOS is here to overclock your expectations. It’s the Arch-based distro that’s obsessed with performance—not just “clean code” performance, but “compiled for your specific hardware instructions” performance. CachyOS is a relative newcomer, first appearing in 2021 from a team of German developers led by Peter Jung. It originally started as a project to develop the Cachy CPU scheduler (now evolved into the BORE scheduler) to improve desktop responsiveness. The project quickly snowballed into a full-blown distribution focused on providing an optimized x86-64-v3 and v4 experience for modern machines.
